Scary Night Last Night

Well, last night was a horror. My little pooch Baby Girl, my companion, my assistant, my only "daughter", my very best friend, starting having seizures last night. At first, I didn't know what was happening, she jumped off the couch and I thought she hurt her leg, and was in pain, we tried massage, everything. Panicked, I called our vet, but they had closed for the night already. Finally ended up taking her to an emergency vet quite a long drive from here. Turns out she had an epileptic seizure, and will be on meds the rest of her life. That, I can handle, losing her, I could not. When we lived in Las Vegas, she was left in a box on Las Vegas Blvd at approx 3 weeks old. It was 115 degrees. I took her home, and it seems she knew we rescued her. She has been the friendliest, lovable dog I have ever had, and I have had many...she is a mutt, not sure what she is, but if I would have lost her I would have been devastated. They gave her meds last night, kept her overnight to watch for more seizures, but she was given the ok, and I picked her up today. She's a bit whacked from the meds, and they say she will be for a few weeks, but she is snoring on the couch right now, (with her brother Griffey right by her side, you can only see his butt in this pic....

Oh Arlene I can sympathize so much with you right now & I know how scary that was! That exact same thing happened to my little silky terrier Molly. Out of the blue she started having seizures & had to be on meds every day after. It happened late in her life at 12 & she still lived to be 14. I know how worried you are but she has you to take good care of her. And THANK YOU so much for bidding on my snowdome! You WON!
Have a great evening & Hugs to Baby Girl!

I too can sympathize with you. I had a collie, Bernie, that started having seizures when he was 7 and we were lucky enough to have him in our lives until he was 13. The seizures would scare him, but with the appropriate medication dosage, things got better.
Bernie was my "wonder pet". He had a lot to deal with - Epilepsy, allergies, renal failure - but he was still the very best puppy you could ask for!

I hope Baby Girl is doing better. My own little baby girl is 2 (Margot, a mini schnauzer) and I would can't imagine if anything happened to her. It sounds like you have done all the right things and that Baby Girl will be able to recover. Big kisses and hugs to Baby Girl.

Arlene-
Sorry about your baby. Is she feeling any better yet? I assume that once the Doc regulates her meds she'll perk up a bit?
Please let us know how she's doing.
Happy Mothers Day!
